One of the real strengths of Kids in Action is the relationships we have with our members and service users. Its that week by week involvement and relationship which allows us to give personal and tailored support and help.
Many children and adults with learning and other disabilities are isolated and lonely. 1 in 4 people with learning disabilities say they have no friends at all. They are multiply disadvantaged and struggle with poverty, discrimination and even bullying.
We think that’s intolerable and need to change.
- We run weekly social and activity clubs for children, young people and young adults
- We provide additional weekday support for children and young people in the school holidays
- We organise family and group based trips and activities all year round – from parties to coach trips to panto visits to picnics to boat trips.
- We offer subsidised rates at our three luxury caravans for family holidays
All of that is with the aim of supporting individuals and families so they can gain the confidence, skills and opportunity to take the next step in transforming their own lives.
We hold many sponsored events throughout the year including bowling, cabaret nights, runs etc to raise money for our charity.
